Gender Reveal Party!

What is more fun than a baby? I honestly can’t think of anything. I know pregnancy isn’t easy, or maybe it is for you, but there are so many things to look forward to before you meet your little bundle of joy. The first being a gender reveal party.

When Rachael announced that she was expecting again I was over-the-moon excited for her and Dan. I mean- they’re my best friends and Timmy is so stinking adorable so I know this next little one will be as well.

I instantly offered to throw her a gender reveal party. I wanted to give them a great party, but with a different reveal than what other people normally do. So hold on to your hats people because we are about to dive into my mind for the planning process.

Invitations

I am thankfully blessed to have learned about graphic design and other programs to design during college. I learned just enough to be able to create my own content.

I loved creating Rachael a gender reveal invite! I actually didn’t mail any out, I just sent it out digitally. It’s still fun to have an invitation! I went onto Pinterest to find some inspiration for a gender reveal party.

I googled the images and used the different fonts. Below the date and time I put my address for people who’ve never been to come!

Rachael and Dan both love to hunt, and I know that Rachael loves arrows so I wanted to incorporate both the pink and blue into the invitation! I also added the touches of pink and blue fonts for some added color and dimension to the invitation.

Guest List

Rachael and Dan wanted to keep the guest list to a minimum on this reveal. Their family is extremely important to them and they wanted to be able to have an intimate gathering with their immediate family!

We were able to record that actual reveal part of the day so that other friends and extended family could be part of the fun later on. That is the beauty of technology!

Food List

I honestly kept the food list quite simple. I asked Rachael’s mother and mother-in-law to each bring a dish to pass. I provided the buns and hamburger for bbq’s. It was easy to make ahead of time and warm up in the crock pot since I had to work at the store that day!

The cupcakes and cake I just bought from Hy-Vee the morning of so they were fresh. I had the chef write “Congratulations!” on it in yellow for them.

Decorating

All of the decor I got from my favorite website, Amazon.com! I just searched “gender reveal decor” and all of the fun things popped up! I chose a pack of decorations that included plates, silverware, cups, cupcake and cake toppers, banner, beads and balloons!

I loved the concept of the game “Don’t say Baby!”. Everyone got one string of beads from each color. If you said the word “baby” during the evening then whoever heard you and noticed first got to steal your string of beads.

The game got very competitive, and was really fun for family to play along with! Even the little kids could join in!

I did have to go get the balloons filled with helium at a local store because I couldn’t blow them up. I thought they turned out so cute!

The cups and plates were a fun touch the evening! Later on we had lemonade there as well for people to drink, too.

I bought the backdrop for the banner at Walmart for a really low price. I also used my curtains as part of the back drop and then blew up balloons and taped them to the curtain rod!

I bought the canvas for a couple dollars at Walmart and then wrote “It’s a….” in sharpie on it! I chose out the spray paint color of the gender, but in two different shades and then wrapped each can in a different colored paper. I threw the caps away so that no one would see the reveal early.

The Reveal

For the actual reveal I took everyone outside since the weather permitted and had the canvas set up on a folding chair.

Dan and Rachael counted down together and then sprayed their paint can at the same time!

It’s a GIRL!!

I also had a group of pink helium balloons with an “It’s a Girl” balloon that I gave to Dan and Rachael to take home. Since it was a little on the windy side we did not get a picture with them.

I was so honored to throw this reveal for such a special family. We are so excited for baby girl to arrive at the end of October!!

What is your guys’ favorite reveal tactic?!

XOXO,
